HOW CAN WE BE SO STUPID?

So we sing the red flag
My brothers and my sisters.
We sing it loud and sing it long.
Summon up the ghosts of the past,
Of fights, of battles now eroded
little by little by compromise.
Our anger slighted into chilling self-delusion to
live with and live through
But.
One billion people live in poverty.
Poverty kills.
One point seven million children die each
year from disease.
Disease kills.
What do we do?
Are we responsible for this by doing nothing?
Capitalism doesn't solve mass poverty.
Democracy is short term thinking.
Only thinking of the next election.
Of power.
Leaders, visionaries.
Where are they?
Stuck in adversity.
Let's yell at the top of our voices
"Enough is enough",
"Arise ye starvelings".
The red flag is flying.
Not business as usual.
No ignoring the sufferings.
Any help should be proportionate to the need.
And people need you.
Yes, we sing the red flag long and loud.
Show the world how we are proud,
We yell.
We shout.

How can we be so stupid?
How can we?
